Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Al-Ittihad returned to winning ways after defeating Al-Akhdoud 2-1 in the match that took place between the two teams on Monday evening, as part of the Saudi League competition.
Al-Inma Stadium hosted the match between Al-Ittihad and Al-Akhdoud, as part of the 18th round of the Saudi Roshan League.
Al-Ittihad entered the match with clear intentions: early pressure and a desire to finish things quickly, which they achieved after just 12 minutes. Houssem Aouar capitalized on a pass from N’Golo Kanté with a volley that found the back of the net.
Al-Akhdoud then tried to organize their ranks and gradually return to the atmosphere of the match, but the experience of Al-Ittihad players decided the scene before the end of the first half, after the Al-Akhdoud defender made a mistake in clearing the ball, so it reached Ngolo Kante, who did not hesitate to put the ball in the net in the 43rd minute, to strengthen the lead of “Al-Ittihad” and give them a comfortable advantage before the break.
In the second half, the pace changed, and Al-Akhdoud pushed forward in search of a goal, taking advantage of a slight dip in the home side’s rhythm. Burak Ince succeeded in bringing the game back to life in the 59th minute, heading home a perfectly placed cross.
Despite Al-Akhdoud’s attempts to apply pressure in the last quarter of an hour, Al-Ittihad dealt realistically with the remainder of the match, maintaining their lead until the final whistle, to emerge with an important victory that put them back on the path of positive results.
With this victory, Al-Ittihad raised their points tally to 30, moving closer to the top four. Meanwhile, Al-Akhdoud remained in a precarious position near the bottom of the table, stuck on 9 points, making their task even more difficult in the upcoming rounds.
