Rabat, Morocco – Senegalese player Sadio Mane sent a message to Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian national team star and his former Liverpool teammate, following Senegal’s victory over Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final.
Egypt lost to Senegal 1-0 in their match on Wednesday evening at the Ibn Battouta Stadium in Tangier, Morocco. Senegal thus secured their place in the final.
Mane told the BBC: “It’s not easy for Mohamed Salah, but I wish him all the best”.
He added, “He did everything he could to lead his team to this stage. But unfortunately, one of us had to lose, and I’m happy to have qualified for the final”.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane played together for several years at Liverpool, winning every possible trophy under manager Jurgen Klopp.
It is worth noting that Sadio Mane left Liverpool in the summer of 2022 to join Bayern Munich in Germany, before later leaving to move to the Saudi League.
