Rabat, Morocco – The Egyptian national team achieved a dramatic victory over their Zimbabwean counterparts by two goals to one, in the match that brought them together on Monday evening, as part of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Egypt met Zimbabwe at the Agadir stadium, in the first round of the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament held in Morocco.
The Egyptian national team started the match aggressively in order to score an early goal, but they wasted many exciting opportunities.
Imam Ashour wasted a goal opportunity for the Egyptian national team in the fifth minute after receiving the ball and shooting a shot that went over the post.
Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet also missed a goal opportunity in the seventh minute, after a perfect cross from Mohamed Salah which he met with a header that was saved by the goalkeeper.
Contrary to the flow of the game, Zimbabwe scored the first goal of the match in the 20th minute.

The Egyptian team then tried to equalize and take advantage of the missed opportunities, but to no avail, and the first half ended with the Pharaohs trailing by one goal.
In the second half, the Egyptian national team managed to turn the tables on Zimbabwe and scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute, through Omar Marmoush.
The goal came after he received a pass from Mohamed Hamdi, which he used to penetrate the penalty area, then he fired a rocket shot over the goalkeeper’s head that nestled in the net.
