Doha, Qatar – The UAE national team qualified for the semi-finals of the Arab Cup after defeating Algeria 7-6 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
The UAE national team met Algeria at Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar, as part of the quarter-final round of the Arab Cup tournament.
The match started strongly for both teams, with Algeria nearly taking the lead in the seventh minute. This came after a cross from Yacine Brahimi was brilliantly intercepted by UAE defender Sasha before it could reach the Algerian player.
Algeria scored a goal in the 14th minute, through Abdelkader Bedrane, but it was disallowed due to offside.
At the end of the first half, specifically in the 44th minute, Adel Boulbina, a player for the “Desert Warriors,” scored another goal. This came after he penetrated the penalty area and fired a shot past Hamad Al-Muqbali.

In the second half, Algeria continued to threaten the UAE goal. They succeeded in scoring their first goal through Adel Boulbina in the 46th minute.
The goal came after a shot from Yacine Brahimi was saved by Hamad Al-Muqbali, and the rebound fell to Boulbina, who put it into the net.

Bruno Oliveira succeeded in turning the UAE team’s threat on Algeria’s goal into an equalizer by scoring the equalizer in the 64th minute.
The goal came after a cross from Yahya Al-Ghassani on the left wing. Caio Lucas headed it to Oliveira, who met it with a shot that found the back of the net.

In the penalty shootout, luck smiled on the “White” team, which won the match with a score of (7–6) at the expense of Algeria.
Hamad Al-Muqbali brilliantly saved a penalty kick from Algeria’s Khasif Noufel Mohamed. Then, Akonnor successfully converted the seventh penalty, leading our team to the semi-finals.
