Cairo, Egypt – Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, expressed his sadness at the exit of the second Pharaohs team from the 2025 Arab Cup, following the defeat against the Jordanian team.
Egypt’s second team bid farewell to the Arab Cup tournament from the group stage after losing to Jordan in the final round, and finishing in third place.
Ashraf Sobhi said in statements via the Egyptian channel “Sada El Balad”: “The first team’s form must be suitable for us. The form of the second Egyptian team saddened us and there must be a justification and explanation for what happened, because we supported and backed them with all certainty.”
He added: “The Football Association should not talk too much about unhelpful justifications for what happened in the Arab Cup, and we must focus only on the future and what we need to achieve our goals.”
He explained: “The Arab Cup is not on the international agenda, but as long as we have made the decision to participate, then the matter is settled.”
He stressed: “We will focus on supporting the first team because it is the primary goal now.”
Sobhi concluded his remarks by saying: “There must be a good planning structure for the national teams, and the main goal at the moment is to support the first Egyptian national team.”
