Rabat, Morocco – Al Ahly of Egypt secured a valuable draw against their Moroccan hosts, FAR Rabat, with a 1-1 scoreline in their CAF Champions League match on Friday evening.
Al Ahly of Egypt faced FAR Rabat of Morocco at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium. This match was part of the second round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
The match started strongly from both the Egyptian and Moroccan teams, with a relative advantage for the Royal Army.
Youssef El Fahli, a player for the Royal Army, fired a powerful shot from inside the penalty area in the fourth minute, but it went over the post.
Meanwhile, Ahmed El Sayed “Zizo” of the Egyptian team responded with a shot from outside the penalty area in the fifth minute. However, it went just wide of the left post.
In the tenth minute, Moroccan Army player Mohamed Rabie Harimat unleashed a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, which Mostafa Shobeir saved twice.
In the 34th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to the Moroccan team. This came after a handball by Al Ahly’s Malian player, Aliou Dieng, inside the penalty area.
Mohsen Toureika gave the Moroccan team the lead in the 37th minute, following up on a penalty kick taken by Mohamed Rabie Harimat. Mostafa Shobeir saved the initial shot, but it rebounded off the right post.
Meanwhile, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet equalized for Al Ahly in the 68th minute. This came after a perfect cross from Tunisian Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane on the right wing, which he met with a header that found the back of the net.

The draw lifted Al Ahly of Egypt to four points, putting them back at the top of Group B, level on points with Tanzania’s Young Africans, who sit in second place.
Meanwhile, the Moroccan Royal Army came in third place with one point, and the Algerian Kabylie Youth came in last place with the same number of points.
It is worth noting that Tanzanian side Young Africans drew 0-0 with Algerian side JS Kabylie in the same group.
