Cairo, Egypt – Bani Yas secured a resounding 4-1 victory over hosts Sharjah in their UAE league match this evening.
Bani Yas visited Sharjah at the latter’s stadium, as part of the eighth round of the ADNOC Professional League.
Bani Yas surprised Sharjah with a sudden goal in the third minute of the first half. The goal was scored by Lionel Govou after a shot from inside the penalty area found the back of the net.
Lionel Govou returned in the 37th minute to double the score for the Sky Blues and score the second goal, after a powerful shot that found the back of the net.
In the 60th minute, Sever Godwin scored the third goal for the visitors from a penalty kick awarded to his team.
Youssoufou Niakate completed Al-Samawi’s four-goal haul in the 78th minute, capitalizing on a mistake by the Sharjah goalkeeper. He unleashed a shot from outside the penalty area that looped over him and into the net.
Sharjah scored a consolation goal in the 86th minute, through Igor Coronado, after a penalty kick.
