Cairo, Egypt – Danish coach Jess Torup, the technical director of Al Ahly’s first football team, spoke about the anticipated Zamalek match in the Egyptian Super Cup final.
Al Ahly will meet Zamalek tomorrow, Sunday, at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in the UAE, in the 2025 Egyptian Super Cup final.
Torop said in a press conference before the match: “The victory over Ceramica was a very important step for us, and we secured qualification for the Super Cup final.”
He added: “I know and appreciate what this match means to Al Ahly and its fans. We are here in the UAE not just to participate, but to win the Super Cup and this match.”
He continued: “We are eagerly awaiting the match against Zamalek in front of our fans and their support to win the title. We have trained for two days and are fully prepared for the match.”
He concluded: “We are using every minute to improve the team. No team in the world is without flaws; we are working to learn from them and correct them.”
He concluded: “I see that there has been improvement in the team’s recent matches. At times during the game, there is a lack of focus, and we are trying to minimize that.”
He concluded: “After today’s training session, I will decide on the lineup that will play against Zamalek, and we are working on preparing all the players.”
Torop comments on the change in Zamalek’s coaching staff
torop comments on Zamalek’s coaching staff change Regarding the change in Zamalek’s coaching staff, Torop said: “Of course, with the change of staff for the opposing team, many things change, and we worked on our plans in the best way possible to help win. I cannot reveal the plan to you, of course.”
He added: “Gradišar played a good match and scored an important goal in the last game. His substitution wasn’t due to injury, but we were concerned about him. He’s ready for the match.”
He continued: “Mohamed Sherif and Emam Ashour are on their way back to playing. Mohamed Sherif has completed full training with the team and is 100% ready for the Zamalek match. Emam Ashour has been out for 40 days, and we are monitoring his condition and readiness at the moment.”
He concluded: “Winning always requires high capabilities from the players, and Trezeguet demonstrated that in the last match, not just because he scored a fantastic goal, but also through teamwork. I give all the players the freedom to interchange positions on the field.”
continued: “The summit between Al-Ahly and Zamalek, historically speaking, I know it is the most important match for our fans. My confrontation with Al-Ahly’s historical rival is an excellent opportunity to win my first title with the Red Devils.”
He concluded: “I always support my players. Transfers between clubs are part of football, and in Zizo’s case, he shouldn’t dwell on the past. He must focus entirely on the upcoming match against Zamalek.”
