Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – The emirate of Fujairah is gearing up to host the seventh round of the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship tomorrow (Saturday). This round is designated for the “no suit” category at the Zayed Sports Complex. There is wide participation from clubs and academies.
This round is considered the decisive stage of the season’s competitions. The outcome will determine the champion of the “No Suit” category amidst intense competition. The contenders are Sharjah Self-Defense Sports, Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu, and MOD Jiu-Jitsu Academy. The two-day tournament will witness fierce fights. The first day is dedicated to the under-12, under-14, and under-16 categories. Meanwhile, the second day includes fights for the under-18, adult, and master categories.
“The seventh round is unique in that it determines the champion of the ‘No Suit’ category,” said Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation. “This category is a true test of mental and technical abilities. Here, the player only has his skill and quick thinking to make a difference and excel on the mat. Over the past rounds, we have witnessed increasing levels of players from clubs and academies. This reflects the extent of the efforts exerted across the country to develop this sport. This round will be an exceptional event that showcases the technical development of jiu-jitsu and its future, which makes us more optimistic every day.”
Through its various rounds, the championship continues to consolidate its position as one of the most prominent local tournaments. It combines intense athletic competition and promotes the noble values of jiu-jitsu, such as discipline, respect, and teamwork. In addition, it plays a role in strengthening ties between families and the community.
