Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The 37th edition of the Arab Club Basketball Championship begins tomorrow.
It will be hosted by Al Nasr Club at Rashid Bin Hamdan Hall in Dubai and will continue until October 6, with the participation of 16 Arab teams, and organized by the Arab Basketball Federation.
The opening day will witness 4 matches in the first round.
Kuwait SC will meet Al-Ahly Tripoli, then Al-Nasr, the UAE representative and tournament host, will face the Yemeni team, Shaab Hadhramaut.
Meanwhile, Al-Qadisiyah of Kuwait will meet Homs Al-Fida of Syria, and the matches will conclude with Manama of Bahrain meeting Anthony of Lebanon.
The 16 participating teams compete in 4 groups.
The first and second place teams in each group qualify for the round of 16, which begins on October 1, and the competition will conclude with the final match on October 6.
Al-Nasr prepared to participate by contracting with the American Trapin Trapero and the Canadian Ogoni Amore.
In addition to his participation in the local Federation Cup, in which he finished the first stage at the top of his group.
The tournament has been one of the most prestigious Arab competitions since its launch in 1978.
Egyptian clubs hold the record for winning the title with 11 times, compared to 7 titles for Lebanese clubs.
While Sharjah remains the only Emirati club to win the championship in 2011 in the edition hosted by the state.
