Belarusian player leads Abu Dhabi Masters
Matches lasted for more than six hours/wam

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Denis Lazavik from Belarus won the Abu Dhabi Masters title, which was held on the Cheese.com platform. He defeated Chinese player Hawin Su in the final match. Volodar Morzen from Russia came in third, and Aram Hakobyan from Armenia came in fourth.

The tournament was organized in two stages. The first of which came in the Swiss system of 11 rounds. The second stage included four players qualifying for the final in a knockout system.

The competition, which was organized for the second time, was conducted by the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club. This was in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi International Festival. It witnessed the participation of 350 players holding high international titles. Among them, 176 were senior international professors and 164 were international professors.

The most prominent participants

The matches lasted for more than six hours. Among the most prominent participants in the competitions were the world’s second-ranked player, Hikaru Nakamura from the United States of America, and his compatriot Hans Niemann. Both are among the top ten best players in the world.

The competition also witnessed the presence of the fifth seed in the world, Indian Arjun Arigaisi. Also, the ninth seed, German Vincent Kramer, and the tenth seed, Anish Geary from the Netherlands participated. Additionally, the world champion of blitz chess, Volodar Morzen, was present.

On the other hand, Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, President of the Arab Federation and President of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, launched the kick-off in the fifth round of the Masters Championship yesterday evening. This occurred in the presence of Hussein Abdullah Al Khoury, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, and Youssef Ahmed, Secretary-General of the Club. The atmosphere was strong with competition.

Chinese player Zheng Chongxing took the lead after winning the fifth match in a row, obtaining five points. He was followed by his compatriot Su Haoyin with four and a half points. Meanwhile, eight players competed for third place with four points each.
