Caracas, Venezuela – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro confirmed on Wednesday that his conversation with former US President Donald Trump was “friendly.” He emphasized the importance of maintaining direct communication between the two countries despite existing tensions.
Maduro said the meeting addressed a number of bilateral and regional issues, including combating drug trafficking and regional security challenges. He emphasized that dialogue is the best way to resolve differences and find common solutions.
Maduro’s remarks come after a series of diplomatic moves between the United States and Venezuela. This comes amid international interest in monitoring the trajectory of relations between the two countries, particularly given the sensitive issues of migration, the economy, and regional security.
The Venezuelan president added that the meeting reflects his country’s commitment to working with all parties on the basis of mutual respect and shared interests. He affirmed that diplomatic channels will remain open for further consultation and cooperation.
