Cairo, Egypt – Yemeni media personality Ahed Yassin announced her intention to file a lawsuit against two parliamentarians and religious figures,

Highlights
  • Community traditions
  • extremist system
  • A major and blatant violation
  • The political dimension
  • Escalation of violation
  • The danger of incitement
  • Fear of women
  • Yemeni journalists condemn the two deputies

accusing them of launching an “extremist religious and political attack” targeting women in general.

By practicing defamation and public denunciation, which constitutes

a “flagrant violation of her right as a citizen”.

Last week, Abdullah al-Adini, a preacher known for his controversial views, dedicated a week to…

He is a member of the Yemeni parliament representing the Islah Party – the Muslim Brotherhood branch –

and he delivered the Friday sermon at Al-Nour Mosque in the center of Taiz city.

This is within the framework of the legitimate government’s (West) control to talk

about women’s immodest dress, and he cited the “Al-Jumhuriya” channel as evidence.

Community traditions

He called on Tariq Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council

(affiliated with him), to stop what he called “meddling” in the channel.

Journalists and human rights activists considered this an incitement speech

and a direct threat to the safety of broadcaster Ahed Yassin,

who presents the “Trend Week” program.

When she appeared with her head uncovered, wearing a short dress,

some people saw it as not conforming to the traditions of the conservative society.

The journalist stressed that this attack extends to women in general,

not just female media professionals and journalists.

Ahed Yassin pointed to the existence of an extremist religious

and political attack targeting women in general, not just female journalists or media professionals.

This targeting is due to its association with an extremist religious system based on traditions.

extremist system

She asserts that the party behind this attack is a religious, political Islamic party,

and derives its authority from that extremist religious system.

Targeting media professionals and journalists stems from an extremist religious system.

However, the spokesman adds another dimension to the attack,

asserting that it also has a political dimension.

This political dimension stems from the fact that the speaker operates

on a completely different channel from the other political party.

He noted that this could be an additional reason for targeting.

Ahed Yassin added to “Sawt Al Emarat” that the crisis is a clear violation

and that this violation came from two parties:

Two parliamentarians and politicians (from a political party), and religious figures.

A major and blatant violation

Ahed Yassin describes these dimensions as representing a major

and blatant violation against a woman and a citizen.

Ahed Yassin emphasizes the seriousness of the matter by saying that each of these parliamentarians

was elected by the people (thousands of voters), and they are openly inciting violence.

He explains that the voters see these parliamentarians as a religious authority.

She describes the accusations of apostasy and incitement as a public declaration

of the permissibility of shedding my blood, considering what is happening to be more than a violation.

Ahed Yassin said there is an extremist religious and political attack targeting women in general,

not just female media professionals or journalists.

This targeting stems from the fact that the attack originates from

an extremist religious system based on traditions.

It is backed by a religious political Islamist party that derives

its authority from that extremist system.

The political dimension

Ahed Yassin pointed out that the targeting also has a political dimension.

The speaker works for a channel that is completely different from “the other political side”.

Escalation of violation

Ahed Yassin described the violation as “a major

and blatant violation against a woman and a citizen.”

Its source is two parliamentarians, politicians (from a political party),

and religious figures.

The danger of incitement

Ahed Yassin stressed the seriousness of this public incitement.

These parliamentarians are elected by thousands of people,

and the voters see them as a religious authority.

She described the acts of takfir (excommunication) and incitement

as “a public declaration of my blood being permissible to shed”.

What is happening is more than a violation.

Fear of women

She explained that political Islam is always afraid of women because

it is based on an extremist religious system and not a moderate one.

Therefore, he fights against women in all fields, not just in the media.

Ahed Yassin’s message included a call for strength and resistance;

the core message was that women should be strong.

Whatever the challenges, situations, and attacks, resistance means

that women must fight for their rights and dreams.

The spokesperson stated that she is in the process of filing a lawsuit,

explaining that what happened was defamation and public denunciation.

And a blatant violation of her rights as a citizen by two members of parliament.

Yemeni journalists condemn the two deputies

The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate condemned what was published

by Member of Parliament Sheikh Abdullah Al-Adini,

This was on his Facebook page against Ahed Yassin, a presenter on Al-Jumhuriya channel.

Analysts described al-Adini’s charged speech as a “warning bell”

and a “time bomb within the Islah party.”

Because it undermines political action in favor of jihadist tendencies and intellectual extremism.

While the professional union (the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate) issued

a clear condemnation of what Al-Adini published,

The political party (Al-Islah) has not issued an official statement commenting on the accusations.

The media personality Ahed Yassin addressed the issue of “takfir” (excommunication)

and “public incitement” from within its ranks.

This leaves a gap regarding whether Al-Adini represents the party’s policy or not.
