Sydney, Australia – The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced that the government has placed 20 individuals and three entities linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on its sanctions list. This move aims to increase pressure on the Iranian regime. The department explained that the sanctions were imposed due to the role of these entities and individuals in Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, their involvement in the repression of women and girls, and the widespread human rights abuses suffered by the Iranian people. It also cited the erosion of the rule of law in Iran. The sanctions target three key entities: the IRGC’s Cyber Defense Command, Unit 840 of the Quds Force, and the IRGC’s Intelligence Service.

The list of individuals includes 20 people, among them Mohammad Sadeghi, Mohammad Saleh Jokar, Hassan Shahvarpour, Gholam Hossein Mohammadi Asl, Rahim Jahanbakhsh, Abbas Ali Mohammadian, Ali Saeedi Hojjatoleslam, and Abdollah Araqi. It also includes Ali Fazli, Ahmad Reza Radan, Mohammad Reza Fallahzadeh, Mohsen Chitsaz, Ali Reza Fadakar, Majid Mousavi, Aminollah Emami Tabatabaei, Ali Asghar Norouzi, Hassan Sabouri Nejad, Javad Ghaffar Haddadi, Yahya Hosseini Panjki, and Esmaeil Khatib. The Australian government’s decision includes freezing the assets of these entities and individuals in Australia. It also prohibits any financial transactions with them. Furthermore, they are barred from entering Australian territory, sending a clear message of pressure on the Iranian regime and holding its officials accountable.
