Washington, USA – US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that the Department of Defense would be ready to implement any measures decided upon by US President Donald Trump regarding Iran,

Highlights
  • The American response will be decisive
  • The US military is ready

stressing that Tehran has a clear choice: to reach a nuclear agreement and not to seek to acquire nuclear capabilities.

Hegseth’s remarks came during a briefing for members of Congress on the situation in Venezuela

But he used the occasion to emphasize the Pentagon’s complete readiness

for any presidential directives regarding US policy towards Iran.

This includes potential military and political options.

The American response will be decisive

The US Secretary of State indicated that the Trump administration attaches paramount importance

to preventing Iran from developing a military nuclear program.

Any steps taken by Tehran that conflict with the national security interests of the United States will be closely monitored.

He stressed that the American response would be decisive if necessary.

Hegseth’s remarks come at a time of increasing tension in relations between Washington and Tehran.

With continued US concerns about the expansion of Iran’s nuclear program

in light of existing sanctions and incomplete negotiations over the previous nuclear agreement.

The US military is ready

The minister explained that the Pentagon is committed to the readiness of its forces

and their strategic deployment in the region, ensuring the ability

to act quickly and effectively in any scenario determined by the president.

Whether on the defensive or operational level, he noted that coordination

with US allies in the Middle East would be an essential part of any plan.

Hegseth concluded by emphasizing that a diplomatic solution remains the preferred option.

But he stressed that the US military is always ready to implement the directives of the political leadership.

This is to maintain national security and protect the interests of the United States and its allies in the region.
