Tehran, Iran – Iran affirmed today that any potential negotiations with the United States do not preclude it from raising its level of preparedness to confront any possible military scenario. It emphasized that diplomacy is not incompatible with full readiness to defend the country.

Official media quoted Iranian officials as saying that Tehran views negotiations as one of the possible political avenues. However, it is simultaneously keeping all options on the table, including the option of confrontation, given what they described as “the continued American pressure and threats.”

The statements added that the Iranian armed forces are in a state of constant readiness, and that defensive and offensive capabilities are continuously being developed. They stressed that any dialogue with Washington will not come at the expense of Iranian national security or sovereignty.

This stance comes at a time of escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington over several contentious issues. Among the most prominent of these issues are the Iranian nuclear program, economic sanctions, and regional security developments. This makes the option of negotiation a political possibility, but one fraught with warnings and mutual displays of strength between the two sides.
