Brussels, Belgium – The European Union issued a strong warning to all parties in Syria, calling for an immediate de-escalation before the humanitarian crisis spirals into an uncontrollable catastrophe. A statement from the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy emphasized that the recent military escalation in Syria directly threatens civilians, exacerbates the refugee crisis, and destabilizes regional security, urging the international community to take immediate action.
Stern European warnings
The Union warned that the continuation of military operations would lead to heavy civilian casualties and the destruction of vital infrastructure, stressing the need to adhere to the ceasefire and open humanitarian corridors to reach the most affected areas.
A political solution is the way
The statement stressed that a negotiated political solution under the auspices of the United Nations is the only way to end the Syrian crisis permanently, calling on all parties to resume negotiations before the crisis escalates to a catastrophic level.
Europe is watching closely
The European Union stated that it is monitoring developments on the ground with grave concern, emphasizing the need to respect human rights and curb violations against civilians, and issuing a clear call for all parties to engage in dialogue.
