Brussels, Belgium – The European Union reaffirmed its commitment to unity and solidarity among its member states in the face of what it described as threats and pressure from US President Donald Trump. It also stressed that the bloc will continue to defend its common interests and independent policies.
European officials said the EU is responding to recent US statements with a collective spirit. They asserted that Europe’s strength lies in its unity and its ability to adopt unified positions on contentious issues, whether economic, political, or security-related.
They added that Brussels will strive to maintain channels of dialogue with Washington. However, it will not hesitate to take the necessary measures to protect its interests, particularly in matters related to trade, industrial policy, and security and defense.
The EU emphasized that the current situation requires greater coordination among member states and enhanced interdependence within the bloc. This will ensure Europe’s ability to confront external challenges and engage on equal footing with international partners, foremost among them the United States.
