Cairo, Egypt – Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, acting as mediators in the Palestinian issue, announced in an official statement issued Wednesday the completion of the formation of the “Palestinian Technocratic Committee” tasked with managing the affairs of the Gaza Strip. This step, headed by Dr. Ali Abdel Hamid Shaath, represents a strategic shift aimed at addressing the escalating humanitarian and administrative crises in the Strip.

Highlights
  • A vision for managing the transitional phase
  • International roadmap and consolidation of the ceasefire
  • A call for commitment and reconstruction

A vision for managing the transitional phase

The joint statement described this step as a “significant development” that will directly contribute to consolidating stability and improving living conditions for the residents of the Gaza Strip. The mediators emphasized that the formation of this professional committee is a fundamental pillar and paves the way for moving to the second phase of the comprehensive ceasefire agreement.

International roadmap and consolidation of the ceasefire

The statement clearly indicated that the current actions are consistent with the plan announced by US President Donald Trump. They also expressed optimism that this new administration will help prevent a renewed military escalation and contribute to establishing a lasting ceasefire.

A call for commitment and reconstruction

The mediators concluded their statement with a firm message to all parties involved, emphasizing the need for full and transparent adherence to the terms of the agreement. They stressed that the ultimate goal is to achieve a lasting peace that paves the way for comprehensive reconstruction efforts in Gaza. This would also create the appropriate environment for fulfilling the aspirations of the Palestinian people to live in dignity and security, free from the ravages of conflict.

According to observers, this step indicates a maturing of regional understandings regarding the future administration of the Gaza Strip. It also places the international community before its responsibilities to support the new committee in its complex humanitarian and administrative tasks.
