Moscow, Russia – Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting of the Defense Ministry Council on Wednesday, December 17, that Russia will continue working on its advanced Burevestnik and Poseidon missiles. He emphasized that these two systems will remain unique for a long time to come.
Putin noted that these weapons give Russia the capability to launch a second nuclear strike. They also guarantee strategic parity in its global security standing for decades to come. He added that the Burevestnik missile system was previously considered a direct threat to the security of the United States.
The Russian president also unveiled a new missile system known as “Oreshnik,” which is planned to be deployed in Russia by the end of 2025. He confirmed that the Russian military is receiving all the necessary weapons and combat equipment, including high-precision missile and artillery systems, loitering munitions, drones, and combat robots.
Putin emphasized that the development of the Poseidon and Burevestnik missiles is of great historical significance for the 21st century. He added that the Burevestnik missile’s range exceeds that of all currently known missile systems, making it a unique strategic weapon.
