Aden, Yemen – The Southern Armed Forces launched a new military operation today, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, under the name “Operation Decisiveness,” in a move described as a natural extension and complementary phase to the successes of Operation “Arrows of the East” in Abyan Governorate.
The Southern Forces affirmed their commitment to ending the terrorist presence and eradicating the hotbeds of extremism that threaten public peace and regional stability.
A field achievement and control of a strategic front
In conjunction with the launch of the operation that began last Monday, the Southern Armed Forces made rapid progress on the ground.
The forces, led by Major Mohammed Al-Masdas Al-Fathani, the deputy commander of the campaign, succeeded in taking control of the Talh Jishan Al-Atfa front in Abyan Governorate.

The Southern Armed Forces explained that the current operations target three main entities working in a coordinated manner: Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Houthis.
In a statement, the forces said: “These organizations operate in a coordinated manner, and we are fighting a battle to protect the south and the region from their danger.”
Cutting off supply lines to the base
The Southern Forces explained that Operation “Decisive” is a continuation of previous operations within the “Arrows of the East” campaign. They also indicated coordination and a division of roles among the opposing parties, stating that “Houthi-controlled areas have become havens for Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda elements.”
The Southern Forces confirmed that the strategic objective of the operation also includes “cutting off the supply lines provided by the Houthis to enable al-Qaeda.”
