Australian police: Sydney shooters were a father and son

The 50-year-old attacker was killed, while his 24-year-old son was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Sydney, Australia – Australian police said on Monday that the perpetrators of the armed attack targeting a Jewish holiday celebration in Sydney were a man in his fifties and his 24-year-old son. The investigations confirm there are no other suspects.

New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon explained that the 50-year-old attacker was killed. Meanwhile, his 24-year-old son was taken to the hospital for treatment. Additionally, the police stated, “we are not looking for an additional attacker.”

In the latest update, police announced that the death toll had risen to 16. Meanwhile, 40 injured people were still receiving treatment in hospitals.

The attack reportedly took place on the evening of Sunday, December 14th.
