Berlin, Germany – German authorities have launched a wide-ranging investigation after discovering that 20,000 rounds of ammunition intended for German army units have gone missing. This incident has been described as one of the most serious cases of missing military equipment in recent years.

According to security sources, the theft was discovered during a routine audit of ammunition depots. A significant discrepancy was found between the documented quantities and the actual amounts, prompting the Ministry of Defense to notify the military police and federal investigation teams to investigate the incident.

Initial information suggests the disappearance may have occurred in stages. This, according to investigators, indicates insider knowledge of the storage methods and security measures. Furthermore, security officials are not ruling out the possibility of an organized network behind the operation, especially since the stolen ammunition is of a type used in official combat missions.

Germany has been witnessing a growing debate for months about the need for stricter controls on military depots. This comes after a series of similar incidents involving the disappearance of equipment and individual weapons. The Ministry of Defense confirms that strengthening security measures is now a priority in order to protect equipment and ensure it does not fall into unauthorized hands.

The initial investigation results are expected to be announced in the coming days. This comes amid concerns that the ammunition could be leaked to the black market or used in criminal activities.
