Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Revolutionary Guard seized a foreign vessel that was illegally transporting large quantities of fuel. It was escorted to the port of Bushehr in the southwest of the country. The ship, flying the flag of Eswatini, had 13 people on board from neighboring countries and India.

The operation is part of Iran’s efforts to monitor shipping traffic in the Gulf, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global waterway for oil and liquefied natural gas exports.

A local source confirmed that the seizures often involve fuel or petrochemicals being transported illegally. The source indicated that the measures are aimed at ensuring maritime security and enforcing the law, and are not targeting specific countries.

In mid-November, the Revolutionary Guard seized another tanker after it entered Iranian waters without permission. Its crew was later released unharmed. This move indicates Iran’s continued monitoring of fuel shipments and its commitment to strengthening strategic security.
