  • A new opportunity for dialogue

in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Ilham Ahmed, participated.

This is part of the work of the Middle East Peace and Security Forum (MEPS).

It was organized by the American University in Duhok in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

A solution in Syria will only be achieved through dialogue

During his speech, General Mazloum Abdi expressed his hope

that the March 10 agreement would be fully implemented.

With the Syrian transitional government before the end of this year,

He stressed that Syria will not return to the centralized state model

that existed under the previous Assad regime.

He stressed that a solution in Syria will only be achieved through dialogue.

He added, at the same time, that his forces do not pose any threat to Turkey,

but rather represent a factor of stability in the region.

Abdi explained that the agreement includes recognition of the rights of the Kurds

and all components of northern and eastern Syria.

Integrating security and military files between the two parties allows for

The details of the administration and the form of government are still under negotiation.

A new opportunity for dialogue

General Mazloum Abdi also called on the Syrian government to take

similar steps to demonstrate its willingness to implement the agreement.

Abdi indicated that the regions of northern and eastern Syria

have the full will to implement the agreement.

He stressed that the absence of dialogue was one of the most

important reasons for the fall of the previous regime.

The self-administration and the SDF never chose war, but it was imposed on them.

He also praised the role of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in supporting

the areas of northern and eastern Syria during the past years.

He noted that the international community is moving

towards giving Syria a new opportunity for dialogue.

The self-administration is ready to continue this opportunity until its end.
