Venezuela – Venezuela announced a massive military mobilization involving ground, naval and air forces, as well as reserves and popular militias, in response to what the government described as “American threats”.

This move comes as the US aircraft carrier strike group USS Gerald R. Ford arrives in the Caribbean, raising concerns in Caracas about a possible escalation.

According to official statements, the mobilization aims to cut off drug smuggling routes, deter any foreign intervention, and bolster the readiness of popular militias. Sources indicate that the number of participating forces reaches approximately 200,000 soldiers, the largest mobilization in years.

Analysts believe this mobilization is not simply a response to an external threat. Rather, it is part of a broader Venezuelan strategy to bolster regional influence and project strength domestically.

This is happening amidst economic and social crises in the country. However, sources warn of the Venezuelan military’s limited logistical and technical capabilities.

This could limit the effectiveness of this mobilization in the event of an escalation, in addition to the potential risks to regional stability.
