Moscow, Russia – The governor of Russia’s Tver region announced that Ukrainian drones targeted a power station in the region north of the capital, Moscow, at dawn today.
This is the latest in a series of attacks on Russian territory
since the escalation of the conflict between the two countries.
Reuters quoted the Russian governor as saying that
the attack caused partial material damage to the station.
This led to a temporary power outage in some neighboring areas,
with no human casualties reported.
Several drones were shot down
He added that emergency teams were able to extinguish the fire
that broke out at the site and gradually restore power to the affected areas.
The Russian official explained that air defenses shot down a number
of drones before they reached their targets.
He noted that investigations are still underway to determine
the type of aircraft and their flight path.
The attacks will not go unanswered
This strike comes amid escalating tit-for-tat drones attacks between Moscow and Kyiv.
Which has expanded in recent months to include civilian facilities
and vital infrastructure within Russia,
This comes at a time when Ukraine insists it is targeting only military sites
in response to ongoing Russian shelling.
For its part, Kyiv has not yet issued any official comment on the attack.
Meanwhile, Moscow stressed that these attacks would not go unanswered.
She confirmed that Russian forces would intensify their operations to strike
at sources of threat within Ukrainian territory.
