Washington, DC – Egyptian-American politician Zahran Mamdani asserted that his victory in the New York City local elections sends a clear message that change is possible. He also indicated that the path to defeating Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election has already begun at the grassroots level.
Mamdani told US media outlets that the success of his campaign reflects voters’ desire to restore democratic values and social justice, noting that the rise of progressive movements in the United States expresses a rejection of the divisive and racist policies that characterized the Trump era.
He added that his campaign focused on issues of livelihood, economic justice, and equality among different segments of society. He considered the victory in New York “not the end of the road, but the beginning of a broader political battle for a fairer future.”
Zahran Mamdani is one of the most prominent rising progressive figures in the Democratic Party. He is known for his advocacy for the rights of immigrants and the middle class, and his calls for radical reforms to the US healthcare and education systems.
