Pakistan – Pakistani security forces announced on Tuesday a successful intelligence operation that resulted in the killing of four terrorists in the Kalat district of Balochistan province. The operation aimed to eliminate elements receiving external support.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in an official statement that the operation took place on the night of November 1st. It targeted militants belonging to a group the state referred to as “Fitnat Hindustan,” a direct reference to India’s alleged role in supporting acts of terrorism and destabilization within Pakistan.
The statement confirmed that security forces successfully targeted and eliminated the terrorists’ location, seizing quantities of weapons and ammunition in their possession. It also emphasized that search operations would continue to eliminate any remaining “foreign-backed” terrorist elements in the area.
Presidential and governmental praise for Operation Izmir
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari praised the operation. Speaking on the X platform, he affirmed that “the nation stands firmly with its forces in their determination to eradicate terrorism under Operation Izmir.”
For his part, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his appreciation for the armed forces. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing the war against terrorism until it is completely eradicated. He also emphasized that “the entire nation stands behind the protectors of the homeland.”
This operation comes amid escalating security tensions. It followed separate clashes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province the previous day, which resulted in the deaths of at least three militants. This followed the Pakistani Taliban’s violation of a ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022.
