Vietnam – At least 42 people have died and dozens have been injured in Vietnam after devastating floods swept through several northern and southern regions of the country. This followed record rainfall exceeding one million cubic meters in just a few days, according to the meteorological agency. These floods are considered the worst in decades.
Vietnamese authorities declared a state of emergency in several provinces. At the same time, rescue teams and the military rushed to evacuate hundreds of families from isolated mountainous areas flooded by water and hit by dangerous landslides.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has warned of continued stormy weather in the coming days. More heavy rain is expected in areas that have not yet recovered from the disaster.
Local officials reported that dozens of homes and farms were completely destroyed. Additionally, power grids and roads were damaged, resulting in communication outages in several areas.
