Afghanistan – In a new escalation of the security crisis, al-Qaeda has tightened its siege on the capital, imposing a suffocating blockade around its entrances and exits, amid reports of its members committing horrific abuses against civilians.
Local sources confirmed that the organization carried out raids and arbitrary arrests. It also imposed restrictions on the movement of residents, amid growing fears of a worsening humanitarian situation inside the besieged city.
Reports indicate that residents are living in a state of panic amid shortages of basic food and medicine. In this context, international organizations continue their limited efforts to deliver humanitarian aid.
