Awarded by the UAE Supreme Council of Energy in recognition

of pioneering projects in the fields of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

As a culmination of the Egyptian state’s efforts

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, stressed that

This covers about 60% of the station’s energy consumption and reduces carbon emissions.

The largest stations in the Middle East

The Minister pointed out that the Eastern Purification Plant is considered

one of the largest wastewater treatment plants in the Middle East.

It has been developed in stages since its establishment in 1993 until its capacity reached 800,000 m³ per day with secondary treatment.

The project was implemented in cooperation between

the French company “Suez” and “Arab Contractors” in 2022.

Partially funded by the French Development Agency

, this project is part of an international partnership supporting Egypt’s

move towards a green economy and clean energy.

Egypt’s regional leadership

The project’s winning of this award is considered evidence of Egypt’s

regional leadership in water and energy resource management.

And the success of its strategy in converting waste into economic resources,

This enhances its position as a country that effectively contributes

to addressing the challenges of climate change and supporting sustainable development.
