Paris, France – The French presidency announced the new government formation led by Sebastien Lucorno.
In which Roland Lescure, a close ally of President Emmanuel Macron, was reappointed Minister of Finance.
The last Locorno government lasted only 14 hours.
Lescure takes over as finance minister at a time when the government is under intense pressure. They need to pass the 2026 budget through a deeply divided parliament.
Locorno stated that this government was formed so that France would have a budget before the end of the year. In this government, the foreign ministry portfolio was reassigned to Jean-Noel Barrot. Additionally, the defense portfolio was assigned to the Minister of Labor in the resigned government, Catherine Vautrin.
The government includes several members who held positions in previous governments. They belong to the centrist camp led by Macron and his conservative allies.
