Baghdad, Iraq – Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein affirmed on Tuesday that the region can no longer tolerate further tensions or political and military escalation. He emphasized that dialogue and negotiations represent the only way to overcome successive crises and achieve collective security. In this regard, Fouad Hussein’s approach is pivotal.

Hussein explained that Iraq pursues a balanced foreign policy based on building bridges between regional rivals. According to Fouad Hussein, they prioritize reason over weapons. He noted that Baghdad believes sustainable solutions cannot be imposed by force. Instead, they are built on understanding and respect for common interests.

The Foreign Minister noted that his country has become a hub for regional dialogue and a pillar of de-escalation efforts between neighboring countries. Fouad Hussein explained that this is achieved by hosting rounds of negotiations between distant parties. It also always seeks to bring viewpoints closer and ease tensions on political and security issues.

He added that Iraq, given its geographical and historical location, is keen to be a factor of balance, not a party to the conflict. Fouad Hussein stated that Iraq contributes to protecting the security of the region and ensuring its stability. Furthermore, he called on all countries to adopt the approach of dialogue as a strategic option, not a temporary tactic.
