Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian State Information Service (SIS) issued a statement clarifying that the presence of the Egyptian Armed Forces in the Sinai Peninsula is primarily aimed at securing Egypt’s borders. Moreover, they are focusing on confronting various threats, primarily terrorism and smuggling.
The statement emphasized that this deployment is taking place with prior coordination with the parties to the peace treaty. It affirms Egypt’s constant commitment to respecting its international obligations. Egypt has never violated a treaty or agreement throughout its history.
In a related context, Egypt reiterated its categorical rejection of expanding military operations in the Gaza Strip. It also rejects any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land. Egypt affirmed its unwavering support for their right to establish an independent state on the June 4, 1967, borders. This includes East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution.
