Damascus, Israel – Mystery still surrounds the Israeli airdrop at a military site near Jabal al-Manea, southwest of Damascus. This incident has brought further attention to the nature of the Israeli landing in the region, emphasizing the strategic significance of such operations.

Highlights
  • Monitoring and eavesdropping devices
  • Parachutes landed and helicopters flew

But a government source revealed some details, shedding light on specific aspects of the Israeli landing.

Monitoring and eavesdropping devices

The source explained that during a field tour by members of the Syrian army near Jabal al-Manea, south of Damascus, on August 26 (August), they found surveillance and eavesdropping devices.

While they were trying to deal with it, the site was subjected to an Israeli air attack. This resulted in the killing of a number of soldiers, injuries, and the destruction of vehicles, linked to the ongoing Israeli landing maneuvers.

However, air and drone targeting continued to prevent access to the area until Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, groups from the Syrian army destroyed part of the systems by targeting them with appropriate weapons. They also withdrew the bodies of the dead, according to the source.

Parachutes landed and helicopters flew

Israeli aircraft later launched several raids on the site, followed by an airdrop, amid continued intensive reconnaissance flights. This sequence of events marked another critical Israeli landing in the area.

Four Israeli helicopters flew at low altitude in the Al-Kiswah area in the Damascus countryside.

Parachutes landed to begin a landing and inspection operation at the site, according to Agence France-Presse.

While a military source revealed that there is a belief that equipment was still in the area. Perhaps it was left by militants of the Iranian-backed factions that were stationed there during the rule of former regime President Bashar al-Assad.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli strikes targeted the Al-Kiswah area and the strategic Jabal Al-Manea during the past two days.

The two sites are considered among the most important military sites used by Iranian factions during the Assad era.

Since the fall of the former regime, Israel has escalated its incursions into southern Syria.

Its strikes continued despite talks between the two countries to reach a security agreement.
