The Athletic revealed that there is renewed momentum in negotiations between YouTube TV and Disney regarding reaching a new agreement that could bring ESPN channels

Highlights
  • Hard hit
  • Digital broadcasting market

back to the platform after an interruption of more than two weeks.

According to the report, the two sides have made tangible progress

in ongoing talks aimed at regaining control of Disney’s channels.

This comes after it stopped broadcasting to more than 10 million subscribers

on YouTube TV since October 30th.

This is due to disagreements regarding distribution and pricing terms.

Hard hit

This development came against the backdrop of widespread complaints from users

who rely on ESPN to follow major American sports leagues such as the NFL, NBA and MLB.

The absence of the most popular sports channel was a major blow

to both sports fans and platform subscribers.

Any new agreement between the two sides is expected to bring back all Disney channels.

Including ABC, FX and National Geographic, to YouTube TV packages,

This will enhance the value of the service and restore subscribers’

confidence in it after a period of controversy surrounding its content and diversity.

Digital broadcasting market

According to media experts, the success of the negotiations would be a significant step.

Towards restoring balance to the US digital streaming market,

which is witnessing fierce competition between platforms.

Especially in light of the expansion of online streaming services

and the decline in reliance on traditional television.

YouTube TV is considered one of the leading streaming platforms in the United States.

It offers more than 100 online television channels.

While Disney is one of the world’s largest media groups,

It owns a selection of the most important entertainment and sports channels.
