Cancer alarm bell.. sudden craving for food
Changes in desires often disappear after treatment/agencies

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Recent studies have found that sudden cravings for certain types of food may be linked to some types of cancer.

The source said that researchers have found that a sudden desire to eat specific foods, such as chocolate, pizza, and even lemon, may be an early warning sign of some types of cancer.

Including breast, ovarian and endometrial cancer.

They also found that these changes in desires often disappear after treatment.

More than 40 years ago, Dr. Thurstan Bruin of the Glasgow Institute of Oncology reported that one in four of his patients noticed an loss of appetite for a favorite food or drink. This occurred months before diagnosis.

For his part, Dr. Ammar Kalkar, a stem cell transplant doctor at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, explained that “a sudden desire to eat ice, dirt, or unconventional things may be the body’s reaction to a certain deficiency”.

In a 2022 scientific review conducted by Italian researchers and published in the journal Clinical Radiology, they concluded that “food cravings have been linked to breast, lymphatic, ovarian, and endometrial cancer.”

Based on these results, doctors now recommend reviewing and examining “the nutritional behavior of cancer patients at the first visit and during follow-up”.
