Abu Dhabi, UAE – Al Dhafra snatched a thrilling 1-1 draw against hosts Ajman in their match today at Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium, concluding the 13th round of the UAE Pro League.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, despite Ajman having a slight advantage in attack, with Victor Henrique squandering two clear-cut chances. The first came in the 23rd minute when he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper but shot over the crossbar. He repeated the feat in the 27th minute with a powerful shot that also went over the bar.
In the 45th minute, video technology intervened to cancel a penalty kick that had been awarded to Ajman, and the first half ended without goals.
At the start of the second half, Ajman succeeded in opening the scoring in the 49th minute, after Bilal Yousef took advantage of a rebound from a corner kick, shooting powerfully from outside the penalty area.
Ajman almost extended their lead in the 63rd minute, through a low shot from Walid Azaro, but Al Dhafra goalkeeper Amjad Al Sayed made a brilliant save.
Just when the match seemed headed for a home win, substitute Marcelo Filho snatched a dramatic equalizer for Al Dhafra in the 92nd minute with a rocket shot from outside the penalty area, leaving the two teams to share the points.
