Dubai, UAE – Dubai Electricity and Water Authority “Dewa” has awarded a major contract to supply, install, test and operate water transmission lines made of reinforced glass (GRE).

In order to protect existing services and divert their routes when needed.

In addition to carrying out related works in multiple locations in Dubai, and protecting critical infrastructure.

The value of the contract is more than 100.8 million dirhams.

The project includes an integrated package of related works, including detailed surveying, excavation, engineering works, and rehabilitation.

In addition to all necessary connections and connections with existing water networks.

Dewa explained that the contract, whose value exceeds 100.8 million dirhams, is a pivotal part of the Authority’s ongoing investments to enhance the efficiency and flexibility of the emirate’s utility infrastructure.

The project will be implemented in 20 vital locations in Dubai over a period of 24 months.

According to Dewa, the scope of the work focuses on protecting Dubai’s utility networks and enhancing their readiness for the future to ensure the continued uninterrupted flow of water.

She pointed out that tempered glass (GRE) was chosen because of its high durability, corrosion resistance, and long operating life.

This makes it ideal for underground operation and contributes to extending the lifespan of assets and infrastructure.

The Authority added that this strategic project confirms its commitment to the highest standards of reliability, safety and efficiency in water transmission and distribution networks.
