Abu Dhabi, UAE – The diplomatic advisor to the President of the UAE, Dr. Anwar Gargash, called on Saturday for “an end to the war in Sudan.” He also called for both sides of the conflict to be held accountable.
“The tragic civil war in Sudan must be brought to an immediate end,” Gargash said in a post on the X platform. “It pushed the country to the brink. This happened when the two warring parties overthrew the civilian government.”
The unity of Sudan and the Muslim Brotherhood is a source of concern
Gargash stressed that there is a major source of concern for the region. It is “the unity of Sudan and the resurgence of the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence.” He emphasized that the political solution must be based on the clear premise of ending the fighting.
He added that “the way forward is clear: an immediate ceasefire and accountability for atrocities committed by both sides. Additionally, it requires unimpeded humanitarian access and a credible transition to an independent civilian government.”
