Sharjah, United Arab Emirates – Namaa Foundation for the Advancement of Women announced the launch of an international project in the Malay capital, Linlughui.

Under the title “Mushroom Farming and Agribusiness”.

It aims to empower 900 women in Malawi and improve their social and economic conditions by providing them with the technical, financial and entrepreneurial skills to grow mushrooms.

This is to enhance their quality of life and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.

The project will be implemented over a period of three years, 2025-2028, in partnership with the Zayan Creation Association.

It includes developing 45 women’s agricultural projects, at a rate of 15 projects annually, each involving 20 women.

Which benefits the lives of about 4,500 people, at a rate of 5 members per participating family.

It also includes the establishment of five new rural business centers, aiming to boost economic activity in local communities.

The project focuses on promoting women’s products and linking them to markets.

In addition to raising awareness of sustainable agricultural and trade practices, and providing specialized training in business planning, financial management, marketing strategies, and market research.

This project comes in response to the social and economic challenges faced by rural women in Malawi.

84% of the population depends on agriculture, and more than half of the population lives below the poverty line, especially women, who suffer from weak decision-making ability and limited access to education and economic opportunities.

The project aims to achieve a set of results, including empowering women’s cooperatives.

Which enhances negotiation power and increases income and revenues.

By increasing production, improving market access and reducing water consumption through mushroom cultivation using efficient and rational irrigation systems.

In addition to developing new agricultural value chains through innovation in processing and marketing.

In addition to providing job opportunities by building green houses and developing rural growth centers.

strengthening the role of women

Cooperation with Xian Creation is based on Nama’s strategy to enhance the role of women globally through women’s economic empowerment.

In addition to enhancing their influence within families, and providing comprehensive support that gives them multiple resources that enable them to start and sustain profitable agricultural projects.

In addition to promoting market integration that ensures continued income generation and expansion.

The project embodies Namaa’s commitment to making a positive impact on society by supporting rural development and providing a model that can be generalized and developed.

The success of the project in the capital, Linljoy, provides a model for similar initiatives in other rural areas.
