Abu Dhabi Heritage participates in the International Date Festival in Ethiopia

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority participated in the activities of the first session of the International Ethiopian Dates Festival, in the Republic of Ethiopia.

Which was organized by the General Secretariat of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Innovation, during the period from 26 to 28 August.

The event was attended by a wide range of agricultural experts, researchers, and exhibitors from around the world.

Through its participation, the Authority seeks to transfer the pioneering Emirati experience in the field of palm cultivation and date production.

In addition to strengthening cooperation with international institutions to develop this vital sector and highlight the heritage dimension of dates.

The festival is an international platform. It aims to enhance the status of dates, display their varieties, and introduce palm products and modern technologies.

In addition, it aims to exchange experiences in the fields of agriculture, manufacturing and marketing. This occurs amid a wide turnout of participants and visitors.

Strengthening the Emirati presence

His Excellency Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Festivals and Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, said that the Authority’s participation comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts. These efforts enhance the Emirati presence on the international scene.

He added that it represents an opportunity to review the UAE’s pioneering experiences in palm cultivation and date production. It also enhances cooperation with international institutions.

All this is aimed at developing this vital sector and supporting global efforts to achieve food security and sustainable agricultural development.

It is also an opportunity to highlight the heritage and cultural dimension of dates, and demonstrate their value as an important agricultural symbol.

His Excellency pointed out that participation in the International Ethiopian Dates Festival reflects the Authority’s commitment. This commitment involves transferring the pioneering Emirati experience in the field of palm cultivation and date production. It further enhances cooperation with international institutions to develop this vital sector.

It is also an opportunity to highlight the heritage and cultural dimension of dates. Furthermore, it demonstrates their value as a symbol of Emirati identity, in addition to their important economic role.

He stressed that, thanks to the interest of the wise leadership, the UAE is witnessing significant development in palm cultivation. There is also an advanced level of date and date production and export to countries around the world.

He pointed out that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi pays great attention to holding specialized festivals. These coincide with the seasons of harvesting dates and dates, which are separated by a few months.

This enhances opportunities to exchange experiences and knowledge of the palm tree’s vast resources. This occurs between farmers, investors, and the younger generation.

This is considered an affirmation of its value and importance in the lives of the people of the Emirates, ancient and modern. It is a symbol of national identity and a pillar of sustainable development.

His Excellency added that the Authority is keen to ensure that its participation in such international forums is integrated and comprehensive. It highlights its efforts in supporting farmers and organizing local and international festivals.

In addition to working to develop manufacturing industries related to dates.

Which contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the Emirati product in global markets.
