Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister President of the Presidential Court, paid an inspection visit to the headquarters of the National Center of Meteorology, where he was received by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al Mandous, Director General of the Center and President of the World Meteorological Organization, along with a number of senior officials.

During the visit, His Highness was briefed on the center’s advanced infrastructure and modern technologies in the field of meteorology. He toured the operations center, weather forecasting units, the rainmaking system, marine monitoring, and weather forecasts specialized in renewable energy. His Highness was also briefed on the latest developments in joint international research on Antarctica, and listened to a detailed explanation of the numerical model system for weather forecasts, which relies on a high-speed computer that is among the most modern in the region It is used to analyze climate data, which contributes to enhancing the accuracy of forecasts and raising the level of early preparedness.

His Highness inspected the Center’s Media Affairs Unit, where he learned about a group of digital applications and platforms that the Center develops to serve the local and international community. These services include direct notification systems during weather conditions, interactive maps, and smart applications that provide real-time information about weather conditions to various segments of society, enhancing a culture of proactivity and readiness.

His Highness was briefed on the “Early Warning for All” platform, developed by the Center in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which provides accurate and immediate alerts to the country’s citizens abroad regarding emergency weather conditions, ensuring their safety and enhancing national and international coordination in managing climate risks.

His Highness also visited the center’s scientific dome, which is an advanced educational platform that aims to spread environmental and climate awareness among school and university students, and the general public. His Highness was briefed on the interactive displays and specialized workshops offered by the dome, which contribute to enhancing climate culture and motivating the new generation to be interested in environmental sciences.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al Mandous expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed for this visit, stressing that the leadership’s support constitutes a major motivation in the center’s journey towards greater excellence and innovation. He added that this visit embodies the importance of the national role played by the center in protecting lives and property, and confronting climate challenges with national expertise and qualified scientific competencies.

The National Center of Meteorology is one of the most prominent regional institutions in its field, playing a pivotal role in supporting national policies related to sustainability and climate readiness, in addition to its active membership in numerous international initiatives that enhance the UAE’s position in confronting the challenges of climate change
