Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Shell explored cooperation in the field of clean energy.

The discussions took place during a meeting between HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and a delegation from Shell, headed by Fakher Badr, Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors in Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

According to a press release issued on Saturday, the delegation included Geraldine Wessing, Senior Policy Analyst in the Strategic Insights and Scenarios Unit, and Hessa Abdulla, Head of Media Relations for Shell in the Middle East.

During the meeting, Shell shared insights from its latest report, Energy Security Scenarios 2025: Energy and Artificial Intelligence, which explores how AI could reshape global energy systems through three distinct trajectories: archipelagos, horizons, and surges. These scenarios are important strategic tools for decision-makers, helping them anticipate future challenges, assess risks, and identify opportunities in a rapidly changing energy landscape.

Supporting the green economy

Discussions also addressed opportunities for cooperation in supporting the circular and green economy. His Excellency Al Tayer reviewed DEWA’s pioneering clean energy projects, most notably the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park based on the independent power producer model.

His Excellency Al Tayer spoke about the “Al Sheraa” building, DEWA’s new headquarters, which will be the largest and tallest energy-positive government building in the world. He also highlighted DEWA’s achievements in adopting artificial intelligence technologies, launching a strategic roadmap to become the first digital services organization in the world to adopt artificial intelligence across all its operational processes.

Fakher Badr affirmed Shell’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s transition to clean energy.
